Scrapbooking Memories Vol 11 No 6

I have a little toot with a layout that has been published in this months issue. Very excited to see it featured as a whole page feature (first time ever for me) in the Final Encore Gallery.

This was a photo of Eloise when she was 9 months old - my how it feels like 90 years have passed since then (LOL!!) It was her very first beanie hat, totally too big and had to be folded and folded up on itself so it didn't fall down over her eyes.

This was also one of my very first attempts at photo editing too - seems pretty basic now when I look back and reflect but at the time I was pretty stoked LOL!!

DeCluttering

I told someone the other day that I was going to do this - and I am sure that they didn't believe me (LOL!) Anyway..... I have started the ominious task of decluttering my scrap stash. I cannot believe what a 'collector' I am - I use the term 'collector' given that is exactly what I have done - collected and not used LOL!!

It is all great stuff which was purchased with great intentions that come to mind. I am so sure that others will be able to put them to good use before I get the time to get around to using it myself. So I have started listing it all on Ebay - Man that's a job in itself LOL!!

At the moment it is mainly stamp sets, along with a couple of punches and a very cool bulk Tim Holtz 'Distress' Auction that have been listed.

Everything is pretty much 'brand new' (unless otherwise stated), with most of the stuff never been opened and in its original packaging. This is a very sad fact in itself and just eagerly anticipating hanging out in someone else's stash being used

You can check out my current auctions here

More will be added in the days to come

Happy Bidding and Good Luck!!

Scrapping Outback Bella Vintage Beauty Showcase

This month I had the pleasure of working with the new Bella Vintage Beauty collection which is now available in store at Scrapping Outback. The collection consists of patterned papers and coordinating embellishments including ribbons, journalling diecuts, felt, epoxy stickers and layered chipboard/acetate shapes

The patterned papers are heavy weight and double sided. Versatile, Classic in colour and with a touch of vintage distress.

I have used Vintage Beauty patterned papers and a journalling diecut for my following snow themed layout 'Snow Cap'

This layout also features a SO chippie swirl which I have white embossed a background stamped image. I then inked over the top with Dusty Concord distress ink and whilst this was wet, sprinkled clear hologram embossing powder over the top. Heat set then finished off with versamark and clear embossing powder

As you may also recall; this collection featured earlier this month when I used it as my non traditional colour scheme for my July sketch sample 'Waiting For Santa' layout.

This collection was also perfect for creating my 'brag' handbag that contains a little mini album. I designed this to sit on either Nan's or Hannah's dressing table and the mini album contains photos of my two girls from their last professional photo shoot

Hope everyone had a great weekend doing whatever you got up to. The weather here was totally feral on Saturday - the wind was blowing like you wouldn't believe and kept blowing the power lines against each other so as a result we spent most of Saturday with no power.

Yesterday was my cousin's fourth child's Baptism which we attended.

Couldn't find a Baby Baptism card so ended up making one myself

This was the card which I made to celebrate his special day

I came across this lovely quote which I also included for the words inside the card

A child is a precious gift from God
And baptism is God's gift wrapping

Frame Ups and Special Effects Class with Jessica Sprague

I have been patiently counting down the days until Jessica Sprague's free Frame Ups and Special Effects classes kick off. Anyway July 6 was officially the first day of class. I will be updating this post with my class 'homework' photos as we go along.

So here we go

9/7/09 Class 4: Clipped Masks

Basically a clipping mask is basically a shape - any shape - that you can "clip" your photo onto, to cause your photo to conform itself to that shape. I have to say that I just love the scruffy edges of this one that I played with

For my following photo I have combined a vintage tint technique (lesson 3) and Glowy Star Brush with Jessica Sprague's grunge mask for the following result which I just love

Combining Techniques

O.K - Now I am just having way too much Fun!!

This time I have combined the vintage look (Lesson 3), with brush (Lesson 2) and an overlay from the Class of 3 kit (yeah I know that we aren't up to this but couldn't help myself)

8/7/09 Class 3: Creating a Vintage, Hand Tinted Look

Before Photo

After adding a vintage, hand tinted look

Combining Techniques

O.K I have been playing and have combined a couple of techniques that we have been shown in Jessica's classes so far

For my photo 'Two Heads' I have combined adding a frame (ornate frame from lesson 1) with a brush (Ooh La La Tag and altered colour to suit) and adding my own text to the brush tag

7/7/09 Class 2: Brushes

Using House of 3 Class Kit - Brushes 'Ooh La La Tag' and 'Celebrate'

6/7/09 Class 1: Frame Up and Word-i-fy

Using the free class House of 3 kit that was made available to us, I have used the 'Ornate Frame 3 and 'Sassy' title block for altering my photo

Carole Janson came up with this super sketch for Scrapping Outback's June Sketch Challenge

I somehow managed to get distracted along the way (LOL) but have drawn inspiration from the square element, tile and journalling positions and embellishment placement

We also had to include some handmade flowers on our layout. I have made mine by cutting out blooms from some Fancy Pants pp, sculpting and layering. My floral centres have been adapted from Carole's Fringed Quilled Flower Technique

The creative process for Carole's Fringed Quilling Flower Technique can also be found here
