Operation Write Home

Join GlueArts as we support our friends at We R Memory Keepers and Operation Write Home!

We R Memory Keepers is trying to collect 50,000 cards, so they need need lots and lots of help. Cards can be submitted up until Tuesday July 24, 2012 at midnight.

They will pick cards to receive prizes each week on our Facebook page. We R Memory Keepers will pick the top 50 cards (at the end of the contest) to be voted on by our Facebook fans. Our Facebook will vote for each round until the final winner is chosen. 

Top 25 cards will receive a Power Punch
Top 10 cards will receive a Lucky 8 Punch
Top 5 cards will receive a Love 2 Craft collection
Top Card – We R Memory Keepers Product - up to $1,000 in product (prize value for top card will depend on the number of cards collected)

Holiday Wishes of Joy & Peace to You from GlueArts!

Intro: When in doubt, go for your Glue Arts Hot Glue Gun. It works on almost anything! I used it in this project for ALL my gluing. It works great for glass and ribbon, even the acrylic tag to ribbon! This project came together super fast, and you can feel good about recycling! We just had pasta the other night and my husband asked if I would like to save the jar, and I immediately thought about decorating my mantel in my new house. I've never had a mantel before, so for me, this is exciting.

MASON Jar

Instructions:

1. Paint MASON jar with white primer and while wet, spritz with Shimmerz Vibez (Jeni B Bleu). Let dry.

2. Sand down the paint until you reach desired effect.

3. Create sentiment tag by stamping onto acrylic tag with Staz-on Ink, on other side, apply white Staz-on ink, covering the entire surface. String cord through and tie bow. Set aside.

4. Using your Glue Arts Hot Glue Gun, adhere an assortment of ribbons and trim.

5. Adhere decorative pins and hot glue your pre-made tag onto the ribbon.

6. Place battery operated tea light inside and set on your mantel for display.

Attitude of Gratitude Journal

There’s no better month to look back and count our blessings than November. Once in a while, I enumerate my blessings in my journal and I transferred the list into a mini book complete with great Autumn Harvest collection from We R Memory Keepers and put together using Glue Arts Adhesive. Read on to see how I made this mini…

Supplies:

Pattern papers, cardstock, stickers and brads- Autumn Splendor, We R Memory Keepers
Cardboard- Source Unknown
Border punch- Fiskars
Corner rounder- EK Success
Thread- Coats and Clark
Sewing Machine- Kenmore
Ribbon- Source Unknown
Binding tool- Zutters Bind-it-all
Journaling font- Luz-sans book, MS Word

Instructions:

1. Cut two pieces of cardboard. This will be your front and back cover of the book. Mine is measured 4 ½” x 6 ½”.

2. Cover these pieces with pattern paper. Cut the papers ¾” bigger than your cardboard so it’ll overlap to the inside of the cardboard.

 3. Cut a piece of paper that is ¼” smaller than the cardboard and adhere to the center of the back side of the boards. I used some extreme square adhesives to adhere it to make sure the paper won’t come off. 

4. Cut about 7 different pattern papers. Two of each design in 4 x 6” size.

5. Adhere these papers back sides together. These will make for your inside pages. 

6. Round the two right corners of each sheets. 

7. Cut a piece of yellow cardstock that is about 3” wide, add a punched border on each long end, trim to the same width of your front cover. 

8. Add some machine stitching on each long ends. 

 9. Transfer your diary/journal writings to cardstock. 

10. Trim each blessings into strips. 

11. Adhere these strips to the inside pages of your book. For the thick ones, I used my Perma tac and for the skinny ones, I used the mini square adhesives. 

12. I added my last sentence on the last page of the book and adhered it with foam adhesive. 

13. Then I embellished each page with flat items like punched border strips. 

14. Next, I binded my book. 

15. Then I decorated the front using the sticker that inspired me to make the book. I also cut out some flowers from paper, added a brad in the center and then adhered it to the book. 
I used a foam adhesive on one and a Raisen’s on another. 

16. I went back to each page and added my dimensional embellishments. 

17. Last, I added some ribbons through my binding rings.

Finding Fall Colors with We R Memory Keepers & GlueArts

Each time I take a drive or step outside I can't help but notice the beautiful fall colors that surround us this season.

The cooler temperatures and falling leaves beckons me to sit with a good book (or a good movie) relax and spend time with those I love most!

Today Designer Lesley Langdon celebrates finding fall colors in her neck of the woods with a colorful layout! GlueArts U Cut It Foam gives embellishments the perfect lift for added dimension.

Black Sharpie Pen

Instructions:

1. Die cut 3 grand scalloped circles out of patterned paper from We R Memory Keepers. Ink edges and adhere them to the layout with your Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro+ (Perma Tac Adhesive). Trace scalloped circles with black pen.

 2. Mat photo with We R Memory Keepers textured cardstock, adhere to layout.

 3. Write journaling on tag, and adhere to layout with Glue Arts U-Cut-It Foam for dimension.

 4. Pierce holes into cardstock, adhere brads and use We R Memory Keepers Brad Setter and Piercing Tool to set.

 5. Adhere embossed stickers, glitter stickers, and title.

Brad Setting Tool

Instructions:
1. Cut 3 – 5” pieces of pattern paper. Ink and distress edges.
2. Cut 3 – 6” squares of brown cardstock. Ink edges. Then adhere the pattern paper to the brown cardstock squares and machine stitch around borders.
3. Cut 3 – 6” pieces of chipboard. Ink edges and adhere the stitched paper squares to the chipboard pieces.

4. Adhere 3 Embossed Die Cuts to the front of each square using U-Cut-It Adhesive Foam. Attach a “Fall” sticker to the front of the “Autumn” die cut again using the adhesive foam. 

 5. Flip the squares over and attach pieces of ribbon to the chipboard backs with Extreme Adhesive Squares. I used 4 - 3” long x 1 ½” wide pieces of brown ribbon. I spaced the boards about 1/4” apart and positioned the ribbons about 1” from the top and bottom.

 6. Once the ribbon is secure, cut 3 more – 6” squares of brown cardstock to cover the back of the chipboard.
7. To further embellish the front of the screen, create a flower using the Flower Kit and a few flower punches. Ink, distress and layer the flower. Using the Brad Piercing and Setting Tool to pierce 2 holes in the center of the flower. Then separate the prongs of the mini brad as shown. Position each prong through the holes of a button and into the flower. Press down the prongs in back to secure.

 8. To create the bows for each square, tie a knot in a piece of 1 ½” wide ribbon, trim ends and secure to top of a tag with Extreme Adhesive Squares. Use the Extreme Adhesive Squares and Micro Squares to adhere the flower, leaf punches and “Happy Thanksgiving” banner made from a sticker and cardstock.

9. Punch 1/8 inch holes in the Chipboard Tags and string with hemp. Attach these to the bow – tuck under the knot – using Micro Extreme Adhesive Squares. Finally add a couple of silver buttons with hemp to each of the bows on the left and right squares.
