Summer Home Decor Ideas

Summer time!

For many of us the hot temperatures are proof that summer is still in full swing! Visits the the pool, beach towels, Popsicles, goggles and more lying around the house are further ways to see summer is still here.

Soon though we'll be gearing up for back to school shopping and yes....the start of school.

For now though we would like to share with you some sweet summer ways to decorate your home! This project is created by designer Sherry Wright using our 3D Combo Pack adhesive and our Glue Glider Pro. Our 3D Combo pack allows you to add dimension and height to your projects...as seen with these butterflies!

Supplies:

Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro — Perma Tac adhesive
Glue Arts 3D combo pack
Jenni Bowlin papers
Melissa Frances rub-ons and frame
wooden frame

Instructions:
1. Trace frame onto pattern paper and cut out, adhere to frame. Adhere square cut out to back side of frame for background.
2. Apply rub-on to square journaling card. Add frame and layer 3D adhesive to let butterfly pop in center.
3. Adhere butterflies to either side.

Fabric Flowers!!

Flowers!


It seems everywhere you look flowers are in fashion!


Flower necklaces, fabric flower additions to tops and shirts and for of course flowers in your hair!


We wanted to take something with us to CHA that used our new Fabric Bond and also gave our attendees something to remember us by. We just wish we could of made more given how popular they were!


So here's a step by step tutorial for you to recreate the flowers.

Fabric Flowers

Designer: Julia Sandvoss

Supplies:

Glue Arts Fabric Bond

Fabric/Felt

Pin or Hair Clip

Needle and Thread

Tulle or net

Scissors

Imaginisce I-top

Buttons

Glue Arts Hot Glue Gun

Step 1: Using the flower template, 

cut out six flowers in assorted fabrics or colors. Depending upon how full you would like the flower...you could add more layers.  (right click on the flower template. Chose "Save As" and reopen in a print program and resize as needed)

Step 2: Select two flowers that will be the bottom flower layer. Add some Fabric Bond to one layer and press together. You can heat this with an iron on a low setting for a complete bond.


Step 3:  Thread your needle with a fun thread color and stitch through the center of the two bottom flower layers.

Step 4: Next fold the remaining flowers in half than then in half one more time.

Step 5: Sew the corner of the four flowers to the center of the base blue flowers.  

Step 6: Cut 2 circles of coordinating tulle. Here it looks great to use the same technique of folding the tulle and  sewing it over one of the fabrics or leave it as a circle and sew it in the center allowing it to layer over all the flowers.

 Step 7: Cut a small circle of felt and sew that to the center.  Next cut a square of fabric...use your Imaginisce I-top to make a fabric button. Or use a fun button of your own or even a brad!

Step 8: Adhere the button. Then cut a circle out of felt for the backing. If you're going to use a pin back, go ahead and sew that onto the felt. For a clip back you will need a small strip of fabric or felt that you will sew across the bottom pin clip.  

Step 9: Last carefully sew the felt backing through the bottom two layers of the flower to secure the backing to the flower. And you're ready to wear one sweet flower in your hair, on your clothes or even clipped to a necklace! 

A few tips:  Some of the petals you may prefer to stitch down to the felt to hold them in a certain spot. If so use a small, discreet stitch through the flower and the felt base. You can add a bit of detail to the flowers by including some beads, pearls or buttons to the centers. Just use a thread and needle to stitch them to the flowers. Once you have made the flower consider adding ribbon leaves. Simply take a short length of ribbon about 3 inches long. Fold in half and gather at the cut end. Stitch the cut end onto the backside of the felt base. Or use felt leaves as shown. 

These flowers are perfect for not only your clothes, but your hair, bracelets, necklaces, purses, home décor and more! You can also pin these to a skirt...cardigan and if you want to get really creative....after making a few...back them on a larger piece of felt and attach jump rings and chain to make a necklace!

TEXTURE STAMPS: I believe I can fly

Have you seen the new Kaisercraft texture clear stamps that have recently been released?

Well, I reckon that if you love stamps - then you are so gonna love these and for those that are new to stamping well I can see a serious new love affair starting...... They are awesome and such super value - but don't take my word for it, you'd better try them for out yourself!

I love them and have been giving them a bit of a work out of late

We were asked to create a project that showcases these wonderful new clear stamps. Check out the Kaisercraft blog and see the awesome projects my Design Team buddies have come up - WOWee, so many ideas and gorgeous creations; love them all!!

In the meantime, this is what I came up



Layout by Trudi Harrison: CS755 Clear Stamp – Grid; CS759 Clear Stamp – Flourish; Kaisercraft Up, Up and Away Collection Patterned Papers P540 ‘Carousel’ (both sides), P542 ‘Sideshow’ (Reverse), P543 ‘Rollercoaster’, ; Up, Up and Away PP826 6″ Paper Pad; Up, Up and Away EM920 Printed Chipboard; Up, Up and Away RB870 Rubons (colour); A225 Alpha Stickers ‘Brown’; SB222 ‘Believe’ rhinestone title; CB101 lowercase chipboard letters; IP710 Sandstone Ink; Glue Dots; Foam Tape. Other: Red Ink; Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad; clear embossing powder; heat gun; scallop border punch.


I have used Kaisercraft clear stamps 'Grid' and 'Flourish'

Using a Versamark Stamp Pad I created a 'watermark' effect using the Kaisercraft 'Grid' clear stamp. The effect is very subtle which was the look that I wanted to achieve

I have also used the 'Grid' stamp to alter the Kaisercraft chipboard letters. The letters were inked red and then stamped with the Grid stamp using Kaisercraft sandstone ink. Versamark was then applied to the letters with Clear embossing over the top. A heat gun was then used to set the embossing powder, with another couple of coats applied afterwards to create the glossy finish.

I absolutely adore the Flourish clear stamp and have a few more ideas for this one. The swirls of the stamp, I thought were perfect for creating clouds. The flourish stamp has been used to alter the reverse side of the Carousel patterned paper. I stamped the image repeatedly with Kaisercraft Sandstone ink and then cut my clouds from a template that I made.

Scrapping Outback August DT Kit Reveal

So I was a very lucky girl this month. Rachelle sent me a gorgeous kit to play with and **sigh** it contained Prima **sigh** and the most gorgeous Creative Imaginations Floral Die Cut

Wowee - just discovered that these are already sold out - far out that was quick!!

Version 2 is now available in store now. This one is blue and just as gorgeous. You can check it out here

In the meantime, I'll still share what I have done with the pink version
I've created the following layouts using the kit and I have added things like chippie and the extra Prima flowers

I first thought that I would cut into the diecut but I hearted it so much that I couldn't bring myself to do it LOL!! I have also gone for non traditional colours and gone with a christmas theme

The large fabric flower is a Prima Calcutta. I have used the peach version and these are included in the kit. I have also added Prima Bella Arte Aquarius Flowers and these are absolutely divine and available in the Scrapping Outback store here

Wow!!! What a week!!

Last week we attended the CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) Show in Chicago!

Manufacturers come prepared to share their newest and latest creations with retailers, designers, media and more!

We had a great time (well maybe not the part where we set up the booth!). We enjoyed meeting with everyone, sharing the newest Glue Arts products, talking with you about what you like what you need and most of all....spreading the news about Glue Arts and our amazing products!

Now let's share with you some pictures from the event!

Here's Richard Webb our Marketing Guru, Tina Cousino the best product manager around, Karen O'Neill our smart and savvy PR gal and Jim Rudolph our President...who is truly one amazing guy! (he really is!)

And behind them our newest product....Car Accents which we shared with you all last week! We had just presented the product to the retailers and media at the Product Innovation Showcase. Sadly we didn't take the award this year but based on the comments we heard ....it was definitely a product winner in our retailers minds!!

And yes...that is a REAL car bumper that Richard up during our presentation which definitely caused a laugh or two!!

 And speaking of Richard...well here he is! Not only is he one sharp dressed man he also dresses to match our booth!

And one last photo for today....of our Glue Arts booth!

We heard many a comment about our green carpet! We have to say it is pretty green and looks really sharp when you're walking the CHA aisle! And see those tables...we cut some stars out using our Car Accents products and decorated the table tops to show just some of the ways you can use our new Car Accents products!!
