Carefree

I have to say that I absolutely adored this month's Scrapping Outback's White With A Twist of 'purple, pink, blue and brown '. As Joanne says - 'definitely picked a keeper' :) Check out the challenge details in the forum HERE

This is my take on this very yummy palette

I had lots of fun with some Prima Fairy Flora patterned papers (available in the Scrapping Outback Store), Prima Flights of Fancy Patterned Paper Butterflies, Basic Grey Green at Heart, Sandra's vintage doilies, lots of blooms, some Kaisercraft pearl bling and my latest favourite Martha Stewart punch combo.

Photo's are of Miss N trying out the 'twirl' factor in a new Shabbylicious Pettiskirt - thanks San, she absolutely adores it :) and yes these skirts are perfect for twirling and twirling and twirling....

Meeting Santa

Kicking of a brand spanking New Year with Scrapping Outback's January's sketch challenge.

Check out the challenge details in the forum HERE

I figured that we may have a few photo's that we might like to use up being the festive season and all. The sketch was a great way for me to get a little bit 'joyous' and scrap some recent photo's of Miss E and Miss N meeting Santa. This is the first time since Miss N was 7 months old that I have been able to capture the 2 girls together with Santa. It hasn't been from not trying - just up until now, Miss N has been totally frightened of the man in the red suit.
This is my take on it

I flipped the original sketch and minimalised some of the design elements.

The chippie frame is a Dusty Attic Ornate Frame #1 available in the Scrapping Outback Store.

Looking Back - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

O.K so first up MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all you lovely people.

Hope you all had a fabulous time celebrating with family and loved ones. We managed to do another million miles again and spent Christmas Day with my folks and then headed 4.5 hours away to spend Boxing Day and a few extra days with DH's family. Came back home for an 18 hour 'stopover' and then headed down the coast to spend some time with family and friends seeing in the New Year and a few extra days after that. So we are now back home catching up and now slowly ploughing through all the washing, unpacking and cleaning.

Looking back at 2010 - it was a year that was full of love and some wonderful highlights and milestones, and then there were the bumps in the road with lowlights, emotional grief and loss. The bumps certainly did seem to go on and on... but Ah well, we all came through it - I can definitely say a stronger person for it.

On quick reflection:

This year my 'biggest baby girl' completed her first year of school and I am so proud of the wonderful little lady that she is growing into. My littlest baby girl decided that she wanted to wear big girl pants, said goodbye to the dummy and the night bottle of milk. We also farewelled the baby monitor, pram and push along trike... and of course I am so very proud of her too :)

We went through the emotional anguish of when your child is really, really sick and all you want to be is the person with it and not them. My 'biggest baby girl' was so, so brave throughout the whole ordeal and responded well to treatment and subsquent surgery. Heartfelt thanks to the specialists, doctors and nursing staff at the Royal Children's Hospital for their wonderful care of our precious Miss E.

Earlier in the year, I kissed goodbye my Pa for the last time and recently lost my beautiful fur boy Wilson who I found forever sleeping in his kennel.

Scrapping Highlights: Totally stoked to be still part of the Scrapping Outback Design Team, absolutley thrilled to have made the 2010-2011 Kaisercraft Contributing Design Team, super excited to be have been a guest designer for Deb's Creations and still chuffed to have one of my layouts feature on the cover of the Scrapping For A Cause issue of Scrapbooking Memories; receiving an Honourable Mention for Scrapbooking Memories Master's competition and for making runner up for the Scrapbooking 'Celebration' competiton held at the Brisbane Expo earlier in the year.

I've had some time out from the scrap table recently but will be back soon with some projects that I have recently completed

So what will this New Year bring - health and happiness I hope :)

I tend not to make New Year's resolutions as I only set myself up for disappointment when I don't achieve them - LOL!! But I am desperately going to try and 'DECLUTTER' this year. Starting with the pantry first!!

So...it's a new year...time to make some plans, set some goals, organize your craft rooms and house and actually cross things off that to do list you're always making.(well this was our personal goal...but it's a good one for everyone!)

We're kicking off the new year sharing some ideas to inspire you to scrapbook and craft using products from The Girls' Paperie. The Girl's Paperie is a relatively new company started by Designer Margie Romney-Aslett. Margie has an amazing eye for designs and that great eye has translated into several must have lines. Paper Girl, On Holiday, Toil & Trouble and Tinsel and Twig are her releases from this last year! We can only imagine what she'll bring to us at this month's CHA!

Today and Friday our Glue Girls will be showing you her On Holiday line and giving you some tips on how to use our Glue Arts products to make the two products work perfectly together.

In Awe of You Layout
Designer: Danielle Flanders

Supplies:

Paper, stickers: Girls Paperie's On Holiday line
Cardstock: Worldwin
Adhesive: Glue Glider Pro, PermaTac refill, Extreme Adhesive Squares by Glue Arts
Twine: The Twinery
Chipboard alphas: Pink Paislee
Buttons: American Crafts and misc.
Chipboard stars: Scenic Route (red) and Pressed Petals (white)

Step 1: Cut the yellow paper (Vintage Travel) into 2 tag shapes and adhere to back side of the paper (graph).
Step 2: Add a strip of adhesive only on ends of tags. Adhere tags. Apply chipboard title.

Step 3: Add a strip of light blue cardstock to top and bottom of layout. Add photo. Also cut a small strip of red polkadot paper (Travel Skirt Paper) to add to the ends of the tags. Adhere. Bend the tags, so they will open.

Step 4: Use the Extreme Adhesive Squares to adhere the buttons to the chipboard stars. These work great for adhering the chipboard stars to the tags as well! They are very sticky and work awesome for heavier embellishments. Adhere stars to tags. Add memories sticker and twine.
Step 5: Adhere red chipboard, Girls Paperie date sticker and a yellow button.
Step 6: Hand write your journaling. I used the title as part of my journaling. You can add more journaling under the tags or add more photos under them as well. You are finished!

We're in awe of Danielle and her beautiful layout!!
