Christmas Tree Set
Designer: Jessica Barnett

Supplies Needed:
Glue Arts hot glue gun
Graphic 45 Christmas Past paper pad
May Arts green faux suede leaves
Silver Pearl trim
Small ornaments
Paper trimmer
Scissors
Ruler
Postage stamp shaped punch
Glitter Mod Podge and brush
Liquid glue
Opaque white glitter
Paints that coordinate with chosen papers and brush
Glimmer mist
Paper Mache tree kit or foam trees, pots and dowels to make your own set

Instructions:
1. Choose your papers from the stack. You'll need at least one sheet for each tree. I was so excited that colors other than just the traditional red and green were included in this pad!
2. Use the paints and brush to paint the pieces of your tree kit. Paint each tree a color that will coordinate with the paper you're going to use on it. The paint will help hide the natural color of the trees in case you don't get full coverage from your paper pieces. Paint the bases the same color and don't forget to paint the dowels. Allow to dry.
3. Cut the pieces of paper into 1 by 12 inch strips. Cut these strips along the bottom to create a fringe, then cut the strips into smaller pieces, like shingles. The trees can't be covered with the strips when they're still in one piece because the cone shape of the tree doesn't allow them to lay flat. You can hold two of the strips and cut them at the same time if your scissors are sharp.
4. Start at the bottom of your tree and use the Glue Arts hot glue gun to attach the pieces of paper to the form. Curl the ends of the strips up as you go.
5. When your tree is covered, use the brush to give the strips a quick, thin coat of the glitter Mod Podge. Use the brush to fluff up the cut ends as you go so they don't dry flat against the form.
6. Use the bottle of liquid glue to add drops of "snow" to the branches of the trees. The opaque glitter is great for a wintry look.
7. Use a postage stamp shaped punch to make little postcards from one of the sheets of paper, and spray them with the glimmer mist.

8. Use the hot glue gun to attach the postcard shapes and mini ornaments to the tree.
9. Measure the top of each flower pot shaped base and cut a strip of paper to fit it. Attach each strip with the Glue Arts hot glue gun, and then attach a strip of pearl trim under the strip.
10. Use the Glue Arts hot glue gun to attach a small ornament to the top of each tree. A strip of pearl trim can be added to hide and other imperfections near the top of the tree.
11. Cut the May Arts leaves apart and attach to the base of each tree with the Glue Arts hot glue gun.

Renaissance Woman
Guest Designer: Candy Rosenberg

This was the second mannequin that I made and was featured at the January 2010 CHA show in Anaheim, California.  It was a true labor of love, it took about 25 hours to complete and I was so thrilled with the end result, as I had the picture in my mind and just not sure I could pull it off in real life.  I love how it came out.  It is also featured in the current issue of Somerset Gallery from Stampington & Co.

And last be sure to leave us a comment today....we'd love to hear how you've enjoyed this week, love today's projects...and just plain adore Glue Arts. {it's okay...we can take it!} We'll enter you into a drawing for a beautiful paper pad from Graphic 45 for yourself to use to create this projects and what project would be complete without Glue Arts outstanding adhesives products!  We'll select a random winner to receive the Graphic 45 Christmas Past 12 by 12 Paper Pad, a Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro and refill of your choice along with our must have Extreme Adhesive Squares...

Holiday Traditions!!

Start with Glue Arts and Graphic 45!

What kind of traditions do you have around the holidays? Decorate with a special theme....snowmen, reindeers? (we think after today...you'll absolutely want to!!!)

Well guess what we have for you...two beautiful holiday decorations from Designers Patti Milazzo and Linda Albrecht that will inspire you to want to include those in your holiday traditions and decor!!!

Holiday Reindeer
Designer: Patti Milazzo

Supplies:

Glue Arts:
Glue Glider Pro with
1/4 High Tac Cartridge Refill - Pro
Glue Gun
Glue Gun Sticks

Graphic 45:
Christmas Past pattern paper – The Holly & The Ivy, Holiday Spirit and Glad Tidings
Christmas Past Tags

Other: wooden reindeer used as a template; red bells; beads; 6” of trim; glitter glue

Introduction:
We keep a wooden reindeer and sleigh set that holds candy in our family room.  I’d love to update it as it’s become dated over the years but my kids are attached to keeping it as is so I decided to recreate the cute reindeer design with chipboard, the beautiful Graphic 45 Christmas Past collection and some help from Glue Arts adhesives.
Title: Reindeer Décor

Instructions:
  1. Trace wooden craft décor (reindeer pieces) onto chipboard and cut out with a craft knife and scissors.  Ink edges with brown.
  2. Cover one side of each cut piece of chipboard with High Tac Adhesive using the Glue Glider Pro and apply the Holiday Spirit pattern paper on the body and Glad Tidings pattern paper to the antlers.
  3. Trim excess around chipboard with scissors and craft knife.
  4. Repeat Step 3 to cover other side of chipboard pieces and ink edges of each piece.
  5. Use small amounts of hot glue with Glue Arts Glue Gun to where the reindeer pieces join and briefly hold in place to set.
  6. Once the reindeer is assembled, attach decorative trim around the neck and secure with hot glue.  Also use the Glue Arts Glue Gun to attach additional embellishments – bells, tag and punched holly leaves.
  7. Highlight embellishments and antlers with glitter glue to complete.

Notes: I’ve used liquid glue in the past for projects where I’m covering surfaces with pattern paper, but found that the High Tac Adhesive did a perfect job on this project.  There was no worry of the paper or chipboard warping and no need to wait for it to dry.

Snowy Season Box
Designer: Linda Albrecht

Supplies:
Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro with Perma Tac Adhesive, 3/8" Adhesive Squares, Glue Arts Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
Graphic 45 Christmas Papers and tags
Cardboard box
3 styrofoam balls (4", 3", and 2")
Mica Flakes and clear glitter
small jingle bells
Paper Clay (for nose)
Stars floral pick
Snow-Tex paste
Silver Pipe Cleaners
2 black mini brads, 3 rust brads, 2 rust mini brads
black, rust, and white acrylic paint
twigs for arms
large silver bead
Rhinestones and other miscellaneous embellishments
Liquid Adhesive

1. Cover the cardboard box with patterned papers then adhere 3 Graphic 45 tags to the bottom front using Glue Arts Perma Tac Adhesive. Use brads to decorate tags. Distress box edges with sandpaper if desired.
2. Roll the styrofoam balls onto a flat hard surface to slightly decompress the outer layer then use fingertips to make divets and dents for a non uniform look. You'll also want to make the largest ball have a flat spot on the bottom for sitting.
3. Once balls are done use a piece of wire to insert through the 3 balls to hold in place. Insert the wire into the bottom ball first, add a large dollup of hot glue then stick through the 2nd ball, pressing them together firmly and holding in place for a minute allowing the hot glue to cool. Repeat for the top ball to hold in place.
4. Paint the entire surface of the snowman with white paint, allow to dry, then distress with a brown inkpad or watered down brown paint. Wipe off excess as desired.
5. Cut the hat for snowman from patterned paper in a 1/4 of a circle shape.
6. Glue hat into a cone shape using Perma Tac Adhesive, cut off the tip and use a 3/8" Adhesive Square to hold the silver bead in place. Use hot glue to wrap a piece of silver pipecleaner around the base of the bead.
7. Make a nose from Paper Clay and allow to dry or put in oven then make an indent into the snowman's face for the nose and hot glue in place. Hot glue the hat onto the head and trim with silver tinsel to hide cut edges.
8. Paint nose and apply clear glitter. Use lipstick or paint or chalk to make cheeks on snowman face.
9. Add jingle bells to tummy by inserting a piece of pipecleaner into the bell, gluing the end into the snowman with hot glue then wrapping the pipecleaner around the bell.
10. Add embellishments to hat, add mini black brads for eyes and paint on a smile with black paint. Paint entire snowman with a liquid adhesive then apply Mica Flakes and allow to dry. Once you add those Mica Flakes the balls don't look like sytrofoam anymore! After the adhesive is completely dry, you can rub of some of the excess Mica with your hands.
11. Cut three 2x12" strips from patterned paper, paint the edges with white paint by using a straight edge (I used a scrap piece of paper), allow to dry then apply Perma Tac Adhesive along the white painted strip.
12. Apply clear glitter to the strips along the adhesive then accordion fold each piece. Adhere the ends of the paper strips together.
13. Adhere the accordion folded piece to the top of the box as shown using hot glue then adhere the snowman to the top of the accordion folded piece.
14. Insert twigs into body for arms and add Snow-Tex paste to twigs, top of hat, etc. as desired.

It's time to Get Baking....

Well let's rephrase that...

it's time to grab your baking tins and join us in making this adorable project by Designer Leslie Ashe! It's a whole new way to look at those baking tins!!

Designer Cheri Wenger has made the most beautiful Santa Shaker Box that has dimension and details galore! We're certain you agree this is a definite keeper! (and look how it matches her decor too!!)
Ashe Family Tin
Designer: Leslie Ashe

Supplies:
Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro with High Tac cartridge
Graphic 45 Holiday papers

other supplies:
muffin tin
Shimmerz Spritz & Vibez
American Crafts Thickers
Jenni Bowlin ink
EK Success circle punch
Martha Stewart small doily

Designer Info: This tin measures 7.5 " x 9.5 " and the muffin spots are 1.5" punched circles.

I started with this muffin tin, some wallet sized photo's, Graphic 45 Holiday paper, Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro, 3D Combo Pack, Extreme Adhesive squares, my 1.5" circle punch, May Arts ribbon:

I started punching circles:
then putting Glue Arts 3D adhesive (I cut into squares) on the backs
then put the circles inside the muffin tin, tied the May Arts ribbon.
(I also added a doily with "a" for our last name on top to the bottom right)
it was THAT easy.

here's closeups:

Santa Shaker Box
Designer: Cheri Wenger

Supplies:
(Glue Arts) Glue Glider™ Pro [Pro] with High Tac and Extreme Adhesives; Mini Extreme Adhesive Squares [EAS]; Ribbon Adhesive & U-Cut It Foam Adhesive
(Graphic 45) Deluxe Edition Paper Pack of Christmas Past
(Core’dinations) 1 sht. Core Couture String of Pearls 12 x 12 CS
(Martha Stewart) Infinite Loop and Scallop Dot Border Punches
(Xacto) Cutting Knife
(Creative Memories) Cutting Mat
(Studio 18) Red Adhesive Rhinestones
(May Arts) Velvet leaf garland and green iridescent ribbon
(Making Memories) Glitter Foam Diecuts
(Michaels) Home and More Classic Collection gold metallic ribbon
(Woodline Works Corporation) Wooden Shaker Box
Asstd. Vintage Buttons
Scissors

Instructions:

1. Cut 2 pieces of red patterned CS to 7-1/2" x 5". Apply extreme adhesive to back using Pro. Align edge of CS with seam & top of Shaker box and wrap slowly around cylinder to avoid any crinkles in CS. Overlap second piece of CS approx 3/8", align edge with top of cylinder and slowly wrap, but stop about 2" before end. Lay cylinder down on table with scrap paper under it. Run another pass of adhesive over the edge of paper to ensure better adhesion along the seam. Rub down seam.
2. Trim red side of Holly & the Ivy CS to 12" x 2-1/4". Flip CS over to holly side (green bkgrd) and punch a 12" strip with Inifinite loop punch. Trim 1-3/8" strip of String of Pearls CS (ivory glitter). Layer ivory over the center of the red band using Pro and extreme adhesive. Flip over punched border and apply extreme adhesive to both ends of loopy border to hold in place over top of ivory. Now you should have a tri-stacked band. Set aside for now.
3. Trim out Santa art from CS using a craft knife and cutting mat. Set aside to layer on top of band. We are moving on to the bottom border now.
4. Cut (2) 12" x 1-1/2" pieces of Core Couture String of Pearls CS. Punch both strips with scallop dot border punch and trim each to approx. 8" lengths (you want to trim to where the full scallop is showing on each end). With scrap paper underneath each, apply extreme adhesive over top of both borders. Remove any visible adhesive [webbing] inside diecuts with your fingernail or the tip of the cutting knife. Align with back seam and bottom of box. Wrap around to front. Overlap strip in back aligning pattern of scallop on top of one another and wrap to the front. Note that the patterns will not exactly match, however this will be covered up. Trim border to align with seam.
5. Place lid face down on top of back side of String of Pearls CS placed over a cutting mat. Hold lid in place while you cut around lid with cutting knife. If you don't feel confident doing this, trace with pencil and cut out with scissors. Place lid back onto box for positioning purposes.
6. Change your adhesive in your Pro to High Tac which will give you the ability to reposition slightly if necessary. Apply adhesive to back of tri-layered band from step 2. Again, lay cylinder down so you can align the border even on each side to wrap around the box 1" below the lid. Note: the two ends will not meet, but will be covered with the Santa cut out. Apply adhesive to back of Santa and layer on top so that his hand covers the edge of the left side of band and the holly leaves cover the right side.
7. Punch out Night Before Christmas tag side and punch out hole. Knot green iridescent ribbon and trim points on ends of ribbon. Apply high tac adhesive to back and add some mini extreme adhesive squares [EAS] to the corners and sides of tag as well as the back of the knotted ribbon. Add mini EAS to back side of poinsettia silk flower. Layer with tag on front of the box. Next add vintage button with mini EAS and add adhesive red rhinestone to center of button. Add adhesive foam glitter elements: holly leaves, stars and red glittered poinsettia) to the front. Finish off with rhinestones added to Santa's hat and the poinsettia.
8. Roughly cut out Santa with his bag of toys. Cut a piece of U-Cut it foam adhesive to mount Santa onto. Remove liner to expose adhesive on top and apply Santa. Using cutting knife, cut around his contour. Set aside.
9. Apply high tac adhesive to back side of shape you cut out in step 5. Apply to top of lid.

Cut or punch out other elements used on lid. Trim away stamp edging from Dec. 25th art. Cut off 2 velvet leaves from garland. Arrange elements, then attach in layered order. To attach Santa, peel liner from back of adhesive foam. I used Pro with high tac adhesive and mini EAS to attach the rest.

10. Cut gold metallic ribbon to 15" length. Apply ribbon adhesive to back, remove liner and wrap around lid. Use cutting knife to seam in front. Tie small bow with same ribbon. Attach with mini EAS applied to back side of bow. Note: if you don't have ribbon adhesive, you can use your Pro with high tax and scrap paper or use mini EAS every couple inches to attach the ribbon.
