Scrapping Outback Sketch Challenge

First Day of Spring Greetings Everyone!!

Well today feels anything but like Spring weather - It's raining and absolutely freezing cold here just for something different.... Ummm Not (LOL)

Anyway I am here today to showcase the brand new sketch that's just gone up at Scrapping Outback.

I've made this one a bit different and I hope you will have some fun with it - I know I did

My take on the September Sketch

I have used the gorgeous Fancy Pants 'About A Girl' Patterned Papers and combined them with a 'Besties' chippie title. These are available in the Scrapping Outback Store.

I also did some stash raiding and have added a Fancy Pants felt frame, Carolees's stickers and some gorgeous TPC Studio Boho Blooms Fabric Buttons - think that I am gonna have to find myself some more of these delightful treasures

Scrapping Outback September's Sketch

You have until the 30/09/2010 to upload your gorgeous creations to the September Sketch 2010 Folder in the Scrapping Outback Gallery.

Have Fun and Happy Scrapping

Flower Tote Bag Tutorial

Hard to believe...it's almost September.

September means back to school, fall days right around the corner, soccer practices and also time to break out the jackets and back away summer apparel.

September is also National Sewing Month.

Maybe they planned it that way knowing the kids were back in school and chances are if you're going to tackle a sewing project...you might have a little more time on your hands.

Today we're sharing with you a fun and easy idea (we like those!) using our Fabric Bond Adhesive. Tote bags perfect for back to school, teachers or even a library or dance bag! You can never have enough totes!

Flower Tote Bag
Designer: Kristen Swain

fabric tote bag
Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro
Glue Arts Fabric Bond Adhesive
Fabric Spray Glitter
Button and thread
Craft Glue

Instructions:

Make flowers-

1. Cut fabric into 12x1 inch strips. Also cut a 1.5 inch circle from matching fabric.
2. Twist fabric strip into rope, then using craft glue, adhere in a spiral onto fabric circle, allow to dry.

Bag-

1. Cut square of fabric to fit tote front, then use Glue Arts Fabric Bond Adhesive and adhere line of adhesive about 1/2 inch from edges, then fold fabric in for a finished look.
2. Adhere another line of Fabric Bond Adhesive along finished edge, and adhere to tote front. Iron over a thin cloth on top of your tote to to make a permanent bond.
3. Cut several leaves from green fabric then place flowers onto tote. I added a line of 5 flowers along the bottom of the tote, then a trio up by the handles of the tote.
4. Adhere flowers with craft glue, cut and tie a 12x1 inch strip of fabric into a bow, add button and stitch bow onto top of tote.
5. Spray the whole tote with fabric spray glitter.

The layered leaves (BTW which are lacquered) have been cut from one of papers from the Secret Bird Society 6" paper pad. Yes, my love affair with these continues - they are always full of wonderful surprises. I have combined them with a leaf chipboard element from the Secret Bird Society chipboard pack

Beyond the Page with Kaisercraft

Friday Greetings everyone!

I'm back today to share some of the wonderful new beyond the page projects recently released by Kaisercraft. Don't you just love Kaisercraft for coming up with these brilliant ideas - I know I do
I have combined Kaisercraft Hippy Girl Patterned Papers ‘Earth’ and ‘Luna’ with the gorgeous Funky Wreath which was released last month to come up with this Home Decor Item

Home Decor: Funky Wreath by Trudi Harrison. Materials Used: Funky Wreath (SB2077); Hippy Girl Collection: Patterned Papers Funky Earth (P550), Luna (P555); Ice Cream Pearl Brads (EM934); Organza Ribbon Pink (RI614); Snow Pearls (SB794); Sea Breeze Paint (KC043); Antique White Paint (KC002), Turquoise Ink

Other: Embossing Folder, Leaf Die, Crackle Medium

The funky wreath has been embellished with hand made spiral roses made from Hippy Girl ’Funky Earth’ patterned paper, Ice Green Pearl Brads, Pink Organza Ribbon and die cut leaf branches from the Hippy Girl ‘Luna’ patterned paper. The birdies have also been covered with the Luna paper which has been embossed before applying

Check out the Kaisercraft Blog for my tips on creating the shabby distressed look of the leaves

And.....Have you seen the Kaisercraft Large Desk Organiser released this month? - Gosh it is such a super practical storage option. Made up, it makes for a strong, sturdy unit and it is large enough to store 12 x 12 papers at the back (or even a local community directory phone book cause I checked LOL!!)... and you can fit all sorts of bits of pieces in the drawers. It truly is a wonderful storage option for your desk. Make it up to coordinate with Kaisercraft's other storage options; I'm thinking the Storage Drawers (SB2073) and let the desk decluttering begin!!

Once again I have used the Hippy Girl Papers to alter the Large Desk Organiser. This time I have concentrated on a blue, purple of the collection and added white for a 'fresh' look

Large Desk Top Organiser by Trudi Harrison. Materials Used: Large Desk Top Organiser (SB2084) ; Hippy Girl Collection: Patterned Papers P551 ‘Sunshine’ , P553 ‘Spirit’, P554 ‘Harmony’, PP828 6″ Paper Pad; Ice Cream EM934 Pearl Brads; White Paint; Glue Dots; Foam Tape
Other: White Cardstock, Medallion Punch, Chipboard Flourish, White Embossing Powder, Heat Gun

and here it is in use....loaded up with a few of my favourite things

Summer Memories Canvas

We're celebrating summer!

Not hard to do when you have temperatures in the high 90's and 100's to remind you that summer is still here!

Today's project is perfect to use for all those special photos you've gathered from a visit to the beach, trip out of town or just summer memories around your home.

So grab some photos and get busy crafting a special canvas to celebrate those memories!

Our Journey to Florida
Designer: Julia Sandvoss

Supplies:

Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro Perma Tac & High Tac
Glue Arts Glue 3D Combo Pack
Glue Arts Extreme Adhesive
Making Memories Panorama Collection:

Panorama Pendant Design Stickers, Suitcase Label Stickers, Rubon Book, Metal Plaques, Monogram Alpha Stickers, Stamp Die Cut paper, Cars paper, Word Fetti Stickers, Panorama Trims
Prima Iced Mum Flowers, Flower Center
Stickles Glitter

12 by 12 Canvas

Select several photos of various sizes. Layout those out onto your background paper to determine how they'll best fit. Once you've laid these out, start adhering those down.
Next decide on what embellishments to use. I selected some that helped conceal lines between photos and add interesting details that also fit the theme of the photos.

Add some dimensional letters and embellishments for interest.

Don't forget to include some real items from your trip such as seashells to complete the canvas!!!

Thank you to those who have left us a comment on Monday's craft project post!! We've enjoyed reading what you love about summer! You still have time to leave us a comment and let us know what is your favorite part of these lazy, hot days! We'll pick a winner to enjoy our new 3D Combo Pack Adhesive and of course a Glue Glider Pro!!
