Have you seen the Twiddleybitz Overlays? They come in a wide variety of styles, I am sure that there is one that would suit a theme for a crafting project that you have in mind. I have found the overlays to be easily altered with ink, paint, really any medium that takes your fancy. They even look great left in their bare natural state.
Here I showcase Overlay OV011 3 Frame Overlay Chicken Mesh:
This is what the overlay looks like in it's natural state:
Other Twiddleybitz chipboard elements were added to complete the rustic look.
Including:
KaiserCraft Base Coat Distressed Patterned Paper was the perfect backdrop. A few Prima flowers were added including Precious Metals - Frosted and Gold along with an assortment of smaller roses from various collections. The Frosted Metals were altered with Walnut Stain Distress Stain, Coffee Shop glimmer mist and Fern ChalkBoard.
Chipboard elements were altered with coffee coloured ink and distress stains - walnut stain, bundled sage and weathered wood.
The Overlay was first inked with coffee ink then some rustic texture was added with gesso, plastic shards and glimmer mists - coffee shop and turquoise blue.
A touch of gold was added to the alpha's with Ranger's Adirondack Metallic Gold Paint Dabber
