Denim Like a Jean Recycled Purse!!

And a to die for Vintage Stool! It's just too pretty to sit on but stunning to set out!

Today's projects range the gamut from a denim jean purse from Designer Lesley Langdon to a remade vintage stool by Designer Kristen Swain. Both are amazing examples of how to take an item that was destined for the junk pile or even trash and give new life...new purpose!!!

Blue Jean Purse
Designer: Lesley Langdon

Supplies:
Glue Arts Fabric Bond
Denim Jeans
Canvas Fabric
May Arts Ribbons (Wired Denim, Faux Leaves)
Velvet Ribbon (Prima)
Shimmerz (Jeni B Bleu Vibez, Penny Pincher Vibez)
Stamp by Unity Stamp Co. (Love Life)
Paint by Ranger Industries
Ink by Stewart Superior
Other: Sewing Machine, Iron, Cloth

Instructions:
1. Cut off about 1 foot off the bottom of a pant leg from denim jeans. Keep the bottom seam in tact, this will become your purse opening.

2. Turn the piece inside out and spritz with various colors of Shimmerz or similar product.

3. Sew together at the bottom, with folded ribbon pieces in the middle.

4. Apply Glue Arts FABRIC BOND to the bottom of the purse, covering the stitching, and use iron to heat set the FABRIC BOND, adhering the velvet ribbon. TIP: Use a cloth to cover the ribbon while your ironing to protect the ribbon. Repeat step for other side.

5. Cut the long seam of a pant leg and sew a strap together. Iron flat and sew additional ribbons down the middle of the strap to dress it up. Sew or stitch onto the purse.

6. Take little piece of stamped canvas art and adhere to the purse with FABRIC BOND. This was impossible to sew on, because the side seams were already sticthed, so FABRIC BOND was essential to adhere this on! And it is ON THERE GOOD!

7. Give to someone who will love it!

Vintage Stool
Designer: Kristen Swain

Supplies:
Stool- flea market or craft store
Papers- Pink Paislee
Glue Arts Glue Glider Max, Glue Glider Pro, Hot Glue Gun, UCutIt foam
Glitter- Sulyn Industries
Liquid Glue
Lace trim/Buttons/ribbon/gems- craft supply
acrylic paint/sandpaper- hardware supply
distress ink- I used Antique linen Tim Holtz ink.

Designer Tip: I found this stool and had covered it with some very country kitch papers several years ago. With my changing style, I decided it was time for a makeover. I love the vintage shabby style so popular now, and I created my stool with that in mind.
Instructions:
1. Remove as much paper or paint from stool, then sand well and paint with cream acrylic paint. Antique with brown acrylic paint watered down.
2. Use the Glue Glider Max to adhere strips of adhesive completely over top of stool.
Adhere paper to top of stool, then use sand paper to sand off edges of paper hanging off of wood.

4. Use Glue Glider Max to adhere strips of paper to side edge of stool, then sand off any overhanging edges.
5. Use Hot glue gun, Glue Glider Max and Glue Glider Pro to adhere any cut out images of paper to decorate the top of the stool. Inking edges with antique linen ink as you go.
6. Use the Hot Glue Gun to adhere buttons around the edges of the stool, also adding on antiqued lace with Hot Glue Gun.

7. Use UCutIt foam to pop up single butterfly on stool top.

8. Use liquid glue to trace around images on stool top, and around some buttons on each side, adding glitter before glue dries.
9. Knot and tie bows on thin ribbon, add two gems on large jump rings to each bow and tie to each leg.
