One of my favorite projects is to create seasonal or holiday decor for my home. Here I've altered an old thrift store frame using patterned paper, die-cuts and punches, and fabulous Accent it All vinyl sheets, just perfect for a touch of springtime cheer. It's bright and happy, and the best thing of all? The Accent it All sheets cling to a variety of surfaces, allowing you to add dimension and detail to both the background, and the top of the glass on a framed project like this, as well. Now you don't ever have to be limited by the depth of a picture frame again.

1. Measure your frame opening and create a background for your project using layered patterned paper and die-cut cardstock stickers. You're going to add in another layer of detail on top of the glass, so just guesstimate the background placement, leaving enough room around each element to add other embellishments later. I added ropes to the swing with baker's twine, and added a bit of machine stitching for fun.
2. Cut banner pieces from Accent it All Vinyl using die-cuts, templates, or a pattern you create yourself, like my simple shapes here. I used two different banner flags to add visual interest, and limited myself to three colors to keep the design cohesive. You can use any size or length banner you please. For my 12" frame, I created banner flags that were about 3.5" long and 2" wide.
3. Go ahead and have fun with your vinyl pieces. I decided to add texture to mine with both heat and dry embossing. The heating gun may cause your vinyl to bubble up a bit, but it will smooth out again as it cools. How awesome is that?
4. Layer your banner pieces with patterned papers, die-cut label stickers, punched and hand-cut flowers, and gems. Chipboard is easy to cover with traced Accent it All letters. The vinyl clings to the chipboard without any need for adhesive. I just LOVE this stuff!
5. Lay your glass over the background scene you created and add your banner pieces. Add additional details like vinyl clouds and stems for flowers. You'll be able to perfectly place your accents on top of the glass, but if you make a mistake, simply lift off the vinyl and try again. Once you get your banner placed, gently lift up the corners of each flap and put a hemp cord underneath. Tap the corners back down, and your line stays in place.
6. To create the flowers, punch or die-cut 2 small flower shapes from vinyl and 1 small flower from patterned paper for each flower. Starting with a vinyl flower, twist, scrunch, and roll flower up into a center bud. Add an Extreme Micro Adhesive Square to the bottom and place it onto the patterned paper flower. Scrunch these two together, playing with the shape until you are happy, and add it onto the last vinyl flower with another Adhesive Square. The lower vinyl layer will cling to your glass, or the frame itself, like mine did here.

To make the larger flower, follow the steps above, but add two more larger flowers, one punched from paper and one from vinyl.

Assemble the glass back into the frame and add in your background paper. It's easy to make any final adjustments to your top embellishments once your frame is back together. Simply peel off, move, and try again.

Enjoy!!
