These little bats are a quick and easy Halloween decor project. They are basically little pillows that are made from two layers of recycled kraft shopping bags that are stuffed with cotton batting.
1. To get started, trace or draw a bat pattern onto the back of patterned paper. I found a template on the internet and re-sized the image in my Photoshop program.
2. Cut the bat shape out and adhere it to a flattened piece of recycled kraft shopping bag using Glue Arts High Tac Adhesive. Stitch around the bat shape and cut out, leaving approximately 1/4" of kraft bag around the edges.
3. Add decorative brads for the eyes. Hand stitch a mouth using embroidery floss. Stitch a bow of string topped with a button to the bat.
4. Then stitch the bat to a second piece of shopping bag, leaving enough of an opening to fill the inside with cotton batting before stitching all the way closed.
5. Edge bat with black ink.
