GlueArts Crafts for Kids Day Five!!

Summer may not quite be here yet...but warm weather definitely is!

We loved Designer Lisa Day's idea for the fan! Not only is it quite, a kid friendly craft but it's smart too!!

Designer Jan Hennings has an easy to make and practical bulletin board that kids can help with and then pin their projects too!!!

All this week's projects have been designed with GlueArts adhesives that are kid friendly! And the perfect combination with this week's kids crafts!!

Summer Fan

Supplies:
Glue Arts PermaTac
Glue Arts PermaTac Adhesive Squares
Glue Arts Hot Glue and Gun
Patterned Paper - Pink Paislee
Twine - Divine Twine
Cloud Punch - Fiskars
Flower & Border Punch - EK Success
Popsicle Stick

I know it's not really summer yet, but it's heating up quickly and it sure feels like it!

Step 1: Cut a 5" x 12" piece of patterned paper and then layer on top a 2 1/2" x 12" piece of patterned paper that has been punched out with a border punch. Use a lot of PermaTac to keep it together when you are pleating.

Step 2: Punch out 5 clouds and 10 flowers. Using a lot PermaTac on the back of your clouds and flowers apply them to the scene you are creating. 2 flowers stack together. I rolled back the extra adhesive on my clouds and flowers to keep them clean before I stuck them down.
Step 4: Hand-stitch a stem using twine for each flower.
Step 3: Add a small 1/2" circle to the center of each flower using a PermaTac adhesive square. Pull off any excess adhesive before you remove the circle from the adhesive lining.
Step 5: Using the popsicle stick as a guide. Pleat your scene back and forth to form the fan. I used the side of the popsicle stick to flatten the seams as I went along.

Step 6: Flip over the pleated scene and thread some twine through the folds in the back to pull the pleats together.
Step 7: Before you pull the twine tight hot glue a popsicle stick to the middle of the fan.
Step 8: Pull the twine really tight and then wrap it around the bottom of fan a few times to hold it in place. Tie off the end in the back.
Step 9: Apply a few small dots of hot glue to the twine to keep it from slipping off the bottom of the fan.
Step 10: Give the completed fan to a cute girl to keep herself cool this Summer!
