I WONDER Album

Instructions:

1. Gather your coordinating supplies and place on top of your Unibind album to set out a vision for the cover.

2. Start by painting the cover with the lighter color (gold), and while still wet, paint up and down strokes with a darker color paint (red).

3. While still wet, with a rag, make a circle pattern in the paint.

4. Let dry. Go over the album with some of the darker paint (red) with your finger tip until you acheive a desired result.
5. Let dry, then glue down your embellishments with your Glue Arts Glue Gun and Glue Arts Glue Gun Sticks.

6. Position your pages into the crease of the album and insert into the PhotoBook Creator Machine by Unibind. Let the adhesive set, remove and enjoy your album!

Birthday Book Album

For this project using Unibind’s Photo Book Creator and Glue Arts Adhesives, I wanted to create a single mini album to record both my children’s birthdays from 1 to 18 in one small book. I designed it to be a fun “at a glance” album with simple pages to hold a single 3 ½ x 5 photo of each child side by side. Under each photo there’s room to journal the highlights of that year or that particular birthday. And although the pages within will be very simple, I couldn’t resist embellishing it in my usual style with bright, cheery colors and fun birthday themed accents.

Instructions:

1. I started by cutting a piece of blue pattern paper 1” larger than the window on all sides. I used the Glue Glider Pro to adhere it to the backside of the cover and then covered the inside of the front cover with black cardstock.

2. I created a frame from yellow pattern paper by first tracing the window onto the back of the paper and then sketching a free-hand scallop design around the window. I cut out the scalloped frame with a craft knife and punched circles in each scallop. Then I cut out the center of the frame along my traced line. Finally, I machine stitched around the frame twice to complete it.
 

3. I also cut a 1” strip of measuring tape pattern paper to go across the bottom of the album cover and machine stitched across that as well.


4. I used my Glue Glider Pro with High Tac Adhesive to adhere both the frame and the numbered strip onto the album cover.

5. Next, I adhered 2 punched stars to the top corners of the frame again with the High Tac Adhesive. I used the Extreme Adhesive Squares to attach a green button to the center of each star – the banner string will later be attached here.

6. I adhered additional punched stars around the top corners of the frame. I also adhered punched circles and a star sticker with U-Cut-It Adhesive Foam to the top center of the frame.


7. To create the banner, I trimmed a 1 ½” x 12” strip of scallop edged paper. From that, I cut 8 – ½ “ wide tall tabs. I cut a 12” piece of hemp. Then I folded the top ¼” of each tab down to wrap over the hemp and secured each tab with an Extreme Micro Square. I punched ½” circles and applied alpha stickers to spell “birthday” for the banner. I attached the circles to the banner tabs with small squares cut from U-Cut-It Adhesive Foam. For the rest of the album title, I punched 1” circles and again adhered the small circles (“book”) with U-Cut-It Adhesive Foam. These I attached to the blue background with Adhesive Squares near the bottom of the frame opening.

8. To attach the banner to the album, I tied bows on the ends of the string. Then I applied an Extreme Micro Adhesive Square to the back of the bow knot and pressed it into the center of the button. I liked that it looks like I tied the button with hemp without needing to fuss with actually doing it.

Tip: Once the banner is attached at both ends, adjust it as needed and apply a couple pieces of the U-Cut-It Adhesive Foam to the back of 2 of the tabs. Then flip the banner back over and when you have it positioned evenly, press to secure the foam. This will prevent the banner from getting tangled and let it rest evenly across the cover.

9. The present at the bottom left corner of the frame is a simple rectangle wrapped and tied with a piece of hemp. I used another Extreme Micro Square to help secure the hemp in place as I tied the bow.

10. As I’ve mentioned, I kept my pages very simple for this album. I used 8 ½” x 11” pieces of neutral colored cardstock (use 10 or 20 depending on whether you wish to use just the front or both sides). I divided the page with a dotted line and cut a narrow strip of pattern paper and adhered it across the center of the page allowing room at the top for a 3 ½” x 5” photo and journaling space at the bottom. I cut a punched circle in half and adhered each half under the strip where I added the birthday year for each child (sample page – the year of their 1st birthday). At the top center of the page, I added a small circle punch and indicating how old they were on that birthday. Super simple!

11. Once I prepped all the pages to include birthdays for 1-18, I inserted the pages into the album spine and followed the Unibind manufacturer instructions to bind the album. It was a breeze!

12. My birthday book is now ready for me to add my photos and journaling.
