Designer Linda Albrecht has a gorgeous framed project...so fitting with spring {we have a birds nest with Robin's babies in our BBQ pit}. It's dimensional, unique and what a beautiful gift idea! Designer Kristen Swain has the cutest...yes cutest.....tin pincushion we adore! Bright, colorful, cheerful and almost to cute to use!

Supplies:
Glue Art Glue Glider Pro with Perma Tac Adhesive
Glue Arts Hot Glue Gun & Sticks
October Afternoon patterned paper

Light brown inkpad for distressing- Colorbox Gluid Chalk Inkpad
Artificial Nest- Michael's Craft Store
Flowers- Prima
Resin heart- Melissa Frances
8x10 frame
Chipboard sheet
Muslin fabric
Ivory tuelle
Old key
Vintage brooch
Miscellaneous pearls, buttons, crystal pin, vintage laces and trims

Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of chipboard the size of the opening of frame. Print vintage clipart birds to fit along the bottom section of the opening of the frame then adhere it to the chipboard piece with Glue Arts Perma Tac Adhesive.

2. Cut a 4" wide piece of paper to fit along the top portion of the opening of the frame then adhere in place. Distress the entire background papers with a light brown inkpad.
3. Adhere vintage lace pieces to the center portion of the opening of the frame using Perma Tac Adhesive.
4. Cut a small piece of muslin to fit inside the birds nest and a piece of tuelle double the length of the muslin. Bunch up the tuelle to fit on the muslin piece then Use hot glue to adhere it along the center fo the muslin piece.

5. Make a couple of folds on the left side of the muslin piece and use hot glue to keep in place. Attach a decorative stick pin and pearls to the left edge of the muslin piece.
6. Reinforce a small photo on the backside with chipboard. Use hot glue to adhere the birdhouse to the center of the opening of the frame then adhere the muslin piece to the back of your photo and then onto the center of the birds nest. Add other embellishments as desired such as buttons and a resin heart.
7. Adhere larger buttons to each side of the lace piece as desired.
8. Adhere a small cluster of flowers to the bottom right side of the nest and word strips at the top of the nest that say "Love Remains". Adhere a brown piece of lace along the bottom edge of the frame.

9. Adhere a vintage brooch to the top center of the frame.

My mom showed up at my house unexpected and saw this and fell in love. The perfect touch is photo of us girls when we were little and she is a bird fanatic anyway.... so glad that she approves. Happy Mother's Day, mom!!




Tin Pincushion

Supplies:
Glue Arts- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks, Perma Tac adhesive and Glue Glider Pro Gun
October Afternoon- paper and buttons
Twine
some buttons- american crafts
fabric brads- gcd studios
felt- papertrey ink
Tin
pearls- Kaisercraft
pinking shears
felt sticker- Pebbles


Tip: Great as a gift for any crafter, this tin doubles as a pin cushion and a small tin holder, it would even be perfect for a small scented candle inside.


Instructions:
1. Cut 5/8 inch strips of felt using pinking shears. Use Glue Arts Hot Glue Gun and starting in the middle of the tin lid, add a drop of Hot Glue and stick one end of a strip of felt, then allow to cool and start twisting felt into a rope and adhering to lid in coil.
2. Cut circle out of felt, then cut a spiral to center of circle. Take felt and use Hot Glue to hold rose together, adhere yellow and two white flowers to top of tin. Add fabric brads to center of flowers, then add pearls and small felt handcut leaves. Add small felt butterfly sticker with Hot Glue.
3. Trim paper to size of tin side, then use Perma Tac adhesive to attach paper to tin.
4. Using another strip of 5/8 inch felt to center of tin side. Then using twine and buttons, string buttons on twine and adhere to felt with Hot Glue.


5. Handcut a single flower from felt, adhere to center point on front of tin, adhering button on top, then adhere a second button tied with twine bow.
