Love Birds Keepsake Box

Designer: Cheri Wenger

Story behind the project: I made this project as a Valentine’s gift for my daughter to store letters, photos, ticket stubs and other keepsakes from her relationships.
If you cant find a similar box, you can create a similar idea using a shoe box, cutting your own frame with a metal ruler, mat and cutting blade. You can recreate the shadowbox effect using U Cut It adhesive or raise n's to give 3D effect to frame.

This project combines Glue Arts adhesives, a paper mache box, a rockin’ collection from Fancy Pants and some added touches of bling that will have the gift box recipient loving this to the “MAX”!

Supplies:
Glue Arts - Glue Glider Max [MAX] with high tac cartridge, U Cut It 3D Adhesive Foam & Micro Extreme Adhesive Squares
Fancy Pants Designs - Love Birds Collection (papers & stickers)
Little Yellow Bicycle - Chipboard and stickers
May Arts - ribbon
Prima - flowers
Sizzix - Big Kick and Circle #2 Die
Misc. - Paper Trimmer; cutting knife & matt; 1/2" Circle Punch; pencil; scissors; scrap paper
Plus assorted pearls and rhinestones from Colorbok, Darice, Recollections & Studio 18.

Instructions to Complete Lid:
1. Remove square from inside lid of box and trace onto lt. turquoise dotted portion of Birds on the Wire CS.
2. Place same square at an angle onto Love Song CS & trace around it lightly in pencil. Trim with paper trimmer. Cut along paper pattern (as you desire) using cutting mat and sharp knife. Trim any photos you might like to use on this project so you will have them for placement of elements. Use Glue Glider MAX to attach CS to square panel. Place inset back inside lid and lightly trace the frame in pencil so you can use as a guide for positioning elements.
3. Cut square from Loves Me, Loves Me Not CS to cover back side of square inset using MAX with high tac adhesive cartridge.
4. Cut a piece of U Cut It foam into small pieces to fit on the back side of your cut out CS panel from step 2. Attach to front side of square inset keeping in mind the areas you want visible inside the frame. Use the pencil lines you created as a guide.
5. Figure out placement of all the embellishments, photos, etc. that you want to use to decorate the inset. Note: I used the Circles 2 Sizzix die to die cut circles of patterned papers which a crumbled, distressed the edges and layered on top of the chipboard flower. I also used a 1/2" circle punch to punch out the word love from a sticker sheet to add to my covered chipboard heart. Once you have figured out placement, use your MAX and/or micro extreme adhesive squares to attach them in their permanent position.
6. Cut (2) 1-1/4" x 9-1/4" strips of Love Dots CS (teal side). Score 1/4" from top down the length of the strip, rotate and score at 9/16" on each side. Cut V notch es are both ends where score lines meet. This will help wrap the pieces around the corners.
7. Cut (2) 8-1/8" strips of same CS and score 1/4" along length. Cut one little angled notch at top. (See Photo Above). Use scrap paper underneath and apply high tac adhesive to the back sides of each strip using Glue Glider MAX. Tip: Be careful not to place your next strip into any stray adhesive. Keep folding paper or move the next strip to a clean area of scrap sheet.
8. Add longer strips to opposing sides of the edges of the lid. Then add shorter strips over top. Cut (4) 1" x 8-1/4" strips. Using MAX attach 2 of the strips down the top sides of the lid, then add remaining strips to top and bottom. Add rhinestones to corners and 2 corner stickers to lid.
Note: I left the inside of the lid uncovered so as to not interfere with getting the lid on and off due to thickness of the paper. Part of it will be covered when inset square is put back in. Reinsert inset square to finish off the lid.

Instructions for base of the box:

1. Cut 7-3/4" square of True Love CS and attach with MAX to inside bottom of box. Note: Go slowly since adhesive will be very sticky and you want to ensure correct placement the first time. This applies to applying paper to all sides.
2. Cut (2) 9 x 4" pieces of Sweetheart CS. Score approx. 5/8" from the bottom along the length of the paper, rotate and score sides 1/2" from each end. Attach to opposing sides on the outer base of the box.
3. Cut (2) 7-7/8" x 4" pieces of Only One CS. Score 5/8" from the bottom along length of the paper. Attach to outer base of box on opposing sides.
4. Cut 7-3/4" square from Sending My Love CS and attach to the bottom base of box. Trim To/From design of choice from Valentines CS sheet and attach to bottom of box along with stickers and other embellishments of choice.
5. Choose stickers to decorate one of the red polka dotted sides of the box. Tip: to add interest, I used scissors to cut around the inner frames of a couple of the stickers to change up the shapes before adding them to the side of the box.
6. Cut (2) small pieces of red heart ribbon (approx. 2-1/2") and make a loop securing with micro extreme adhesive square. Add two more squares to outside end. Attach these behind the large owl sticker and add to front side of box (the remaining red polka dotted panel). Add two small adhesive pearls to finish off.
7. Cut (2) 8-3/8" x 3-1/4" of Kissame CS. Score sides approx. 3/8" from each end. Apply high tac adhesive to back side using scrap sheet underneath. Attach these to the inside sides of box.
8. Cut (2) 7-3/4" x 3-1/4" pieces of Loves Me, Loves Me Not CS. Attach with MAX to top and bottom inside of box to complete this project.

My Little Tweethearts Layout
Designer: Lindsay Wahl

Supplies:
Glue Arts Adhesives: 3-d Combo Pac, Glue Glider Pro High Tac, Mini Adhesive Squares
Fancy Pants Love Birds Collection
Brads: Doodlebug
Cardstock: Stampin' Up
Die Cuts: Cricut (Lyrical Letters), Sizzix (Twirly)
Pearls: Kaisercraft

Instructions:
1. Begin with 8 photos, all cut to 2 3/4" square. Cut two pieces of patterned paper to 2 3/4" square as well.
2. Cut tree from patterned paper. Adhere with UcutIt foam to left side of left page.
3. Die cut 4 twirly flourish borders (2 each from 2 patterned papers). Use the Pro to adhere these to the cardstock. Lay the border on a scrap of paper and add adhesive. You can rub away the excess and then adhere to the cardstock.
4. On the right page, adhere the flourishes 2" from the right edge. I adhered the red one first, and then I lined up the brown one next to it. Adhere the horizontal border to the bottom of the left page. You only need 6" of this border. It should be approximately 2 1/2" from the right side of the page.
5. Adhere the photos and patterned paper squares using the Pro, leaving 1/4" margin on all sides. Cut hearts from patterned paper and add to the paper squares. Adhere the hearts with UcutIt foam.
6. Using the Gypsy, I created the title with the Lyrical Letters cartridge. The words "my little" are 3/4" tall. The words "tweet heart" are 1 3/4" tall. Adhere using the Pro.
7. Have fun embellishing! I cut birds and hearts from various patterned papers. Some I adhered with Mini Adhesive Squares, and others are adhered with UcutIt foam to give added dimension. Add brads and pearls as desired.
8. Add journaling and date.
