Welcome to May Arts Valentine Week!!

That's right!

We've paired up again with May Arts and their lovely Valentine themed ribbons!

It was seriously a box of goodness that was sent to us....stripes, hearts, puffy hearts, sheer ribbons and more!

The Designers were challenged to work with May Arts ribbons(is it really a challenge when it's a delight??!!) and we have to tell you...it's going to be one amazing week of ideas and creativity! Just you wait!!

Today's Designers Leslie Ashe and Patti Milazzo will wow you with their sweet Valentine cards and framed project. Leslie will have you running to the May Arts website to purchase this adorable scallop ribbon and Patti's sweet  framed project could be adapted for a craft for those classroom parties coming up!

 Valentine Ribbon Frame
Designer: Patti Milazzo

Designer Intro: Glue Arts adhesives and a collection of beautiful ribbons and trim from May Arts made it easy to convert this simple black frame into a 3 dimensional piece of wall art.

Supplies:
Glue Arts:
Glue Glider Pro with
1/4 Perma Tac Cartridge Refill - Pro
Mini Adhesive Squares
3D Combo Pac – U Cut It
Spooled Ribbon Adhesive

May Arts:
Red Sheer Tinsel Edge
Red Heart Satin Cut Outs
Pink Elastic Plaid Ruffle
Red Heart Sheer Print
Red/Pink 1.5” Grosgrain Scalloped Edge
Pink 1.5” Satin Pleat
Pink 1.5” Crochet Velvet Center
Other: black 4” basic frame – remove the glass; chipboard; white cardstock

Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of chipboard to fit the inside of the frame – I used a 4” frame for this project. I also covered my chipboard with a 4” square of white cardstock.
2. Next, cut several strips of May Arts coordinated ribbon 6” long.

3. Using the Spooled Ribbon Adhesive and the Mini Adhesive Squares, adhere the ribbon across the cardstock covered square. Be sure to wrap the ends around the square securely.

Tip: I used the Ribbon Adhesive for the solid ribbons and used the Mini Adhesive Squares on the ends only of the sheer or decorative ribbon/trim.

4. Once the square is covered completely, insert it into the back of the frame - with the glass removed.
5. To create the puffy ribbon accent, I started by punching a heart shape from white cardstock. I then trimmed the negative portion of the cardstock to 2” x 2 ¼”. I cut another piece of white cardstock to the same size.

6. Next, I cut 2 small pieces of red grosgrain ribbon (the reverse side of the Grosgrain Scalloped Edge ribbon) and adhered them to the backside (layered side by side) of the punched heart rectangle using the Glue Glider with Perma Tac Adhesive.
7. I trimmed off any excess ribbon and again used the Perma Tac Adhesive to attach the other white cardstock rectangle to the back. Before sealing this completely, I tucked a small amount of polyfil batting just behind the ribbon heart to puff it up a bit. I then machine stitched around the rectangle and around the heart.
8. I used a Mini Adhesive Square to adhere a May Arts small pink satin heart (from trim) to the center of the red heart and then matted the rectangle on black cardstock using Perma Tac Adhesive.
9. Attach the puffed heart ribbon accent to the center of the ribbon embellished frame using pieces of U-Cut-It Foam Adhesive to complete the project.
